Styles of Hearing Aids

Hearing aids come in several different styles. The features, options, and technology provided by the device determine the price, not the size. The main categories of hearing aids are behind the ear and in the ear.

Behind the ear hearing aids consist of two components. One part is a case that is worn behind the ear and the other is a receiver or earmold worn in the ear. The components are connected by a slender tube.

In the ear hearing aids can be worn in the bowl of the ear (full shell in the ear) at the top of the ear canal, in the ear canal or deep within the ear canal. In the canal, completely in canal and invisible in the canal hearing aids are barely visible or invisible to other people.
